Tonight, ushers at the SAP Center in San Jose are paying a heartfelt tribute to the memory of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau, as well as a beloved colleague, Susie Diaz.
In the wake of the Gaudreau brothers’ passing, Susie, a longtime usher at the SAP Center, took it upon herself to create a tangible expression of solidarity by ordering 13 special commemorative pins for her fellow ushers to wear in remembrance.
Although Susie passed away unexpectedly in September, her dedication and thoughtfulness continue to resonate. Despite her absence, her family stepped forward to ensure that her wish was honored, delivering the pins to the SAP Center ushers so they could wear them proudly at tonight’s event.
This gesture by Susie’s family honors not only the Gaudreau brothers but also Susie’s enduring spirit and commitment to her community. The pins symbolize a shared sense of respect, empathy, and remembrance among the ushers, who often see each other as an extended family.
Susie’s gesture was a final gift of connection and compassion, uniting the SAP Center staff in their collective grieving and in honoring those they’ve lost.
For both the Gaudreau family and Susie’s family, tonight’s event serves as a moment of shared memory and tribute within the SAP Center community.
Fans and attendees may notice the pins and see in them a symbol of resilience and community, as well as a reminder of the importance of kindness and support during times of sorrow.
