Greg Hildebrandt, Famous Artist and member of The Brothers Hildebrandt has sadly passed away. He died on Thursday 31st October 2024 at the age of 85 surrounded by his beloved family. He was confirmed dead trough a Facebook post that reads “The light has gone out in my life. At 12:36 pm this afternoon the love of my life, my best friend and soulmate passed away.”
Born in Detroit, Michigan, Greg and Tim Hildebrandt, collectively known as the Brothers Hildebrandt, have left an indelible mark on the world of illustration and fantasy art. Their journey began at the Meiningen Art School, where they honed their skills before embarking on a professional career in 1959. While they aspired to become animators for Walt Disney, the duo channeled their passion for art into other avenues, drawing inspiration from Disney’s enchanting films, particularly classics like Snow White, Pinocchio, and Fantasia.
The Hildebrandt brothers were deeply influenced by the vibrant illustration styles prevalent in comic books and science fiction literature. Artists such as Norman Rockwell and Maxfield Parrish also shaped their artistic vision, instilling a sense of narrative depth and emotional resonance in their works.
