The Hudson Valley has lost one of its most cherished voices. Van Ritshie, a legendary figure in local radio and voice acting, has passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind a profound legacy in the region. Known for his charismatic presence on air and his distinctive, warm voice, Ritshie made an indelible mark on both the radio industry and the world of voiceover work.
Ritshie’s untimely death has left many in the community in shock. While details surrounding his passing remain sparse, with no official cause of death yet reported, tributes have been pouring in from all corners of the Hudson Valley, where Ritshie was a beloved figure for decades.
In memory of Van Ritshie, a Hudson Valley broadcast legend, whom I had the pleasure of working with while I was doing afternoons at Clear Channel station Star 93.3 circa 2003-2005. Of course That Voice! But also that heart of his which was twice as big as his incredible voice.
As a fellow voice actor, He taught some cool voice tricks and tips that I still use to this day. Van was incredibly generous with his wit and wisdom and I will always be grateful.
RIP Van and thank you….for letting me know that the next stop is Croton-Harmon on the Metro! Haha (can you hear that booming “Van” laugh?)
