The search for a missing hunter concluded on Saturday when family and friends found the body of 25-year-old Dalton Jordan, according to the Kershaw County Coroner’s Office.
A 911 call was made around 3 p.m. after Jordan’s body was found near Flat Rock Road. Coroner David West stated that Jordan was pronounced dead at the scene from an apparent gunshot wound.
The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources classified Jordan’s death as a “hunting accident.” Their preliminary investigation suggests that it was an isolated incident involving one individual who sustained a gunshot wound and died on-site.
Details about who fired the fatal shot remain unclear, and there is no information regarding when Jordan went hunting or when he was reported missing. The SCDNR and the coroner’s office are continuing their investigation, with an autopsy scheduled for Monday at Newberry Medical Center, as noted by West.
