The journalist was a classic southern gentleman and a three-time Emmy winner. His story begins in the little Alabaman town of Athens, where he was born and raised.
Two years later, he started working for CBS 47 and Fox 30 in Jacksonville, Florida, as a Special Projects and General Assignment reporter. His community involvement and breaking several exclusive stories brought him fame. He also won several awards for his article “Chauncy’s Journey,” in which he reunited with his family in Athens, his birthplace, which had been devastated by a tornado. Later, with the help of Jacksonville fans, he organized a trip to Athens, Alabama, where they brought food, clothing, household items, and even money to help rebuild a church.
