The Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada community is mourning with the family of a talented singer, songwriter, recording artist, and music label owner, Dave McHugh who passed away unexpectedly today.
Dave McHugh died on Friday, November 8, 2024. He is survived by his immediate family and thousands of fans worldwide. David’s album “Whatever Makes You Happy” was released in May 2015. His single and video Tudo Bem recorded in 2019 received great attention around the world. He was a native and resident of Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador.
Following Dave’s death, Lorna Lovell wrote on Facebook; “I am absolutely devastated to hear my fellow Songwriter and friend, Dave McHugh, has left this earthly world. My heart is broken especially for Evan & Becky, and for all his family (especially his brother-from-another-mother, Paul Pike), friends, and fans.”

Dave McHugh was born in Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. He’s gigged on every inch of his home province, with an occasional flight or ferry ride to other parts of Atlantic Canada to change things up.
Dave was a big draw at festivals, bar gigs, and corporate events. He has a lively mix of covers and originals, mainly in rock and country territory, Dave keeps good company, having opened twice for the world-renowned group Great Big Sea.
Dave played various repertoire from Irish trad, pop, rock, and country. Dave has a particularly strong stage presence, he is a crowd-pleaser who had over 35 years of experience including cruise ship industry. Dave McHugh, the owner of Gravytrain Entertainment, was described as one of the busiest and most adaptable entertainers in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Dave has over 30 years of experience as a professional musician, 20 of which have been spent as a solo act touring the pub, festival, and corporate circuits of Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as the mainland of Canada.
